Kabyé (Kabiye) is one of the languages of the eastern Gurunsi branch of the Gur (Voltaic) family, which is part of the great Niger-Congo phylum.Kabiye is spoken in the northern part of Togo, mainly in the prefectures of Kozah (Kara) and Binah, as well as in the neighboring countries Benin and Ghana. It is also known as Kabure, Kabre, Cabrai, Cabrais. Kɛwɛ (Piya) dialect is recognized as the de facto standard dialect.
