Jamaican Creole (JC) is a contact language originally a pidgin which became a creole and the standardized first language of the people of Jamaica. English, the superstrate, and a number of West African substrate languages. It is known as Jamaican Patois or Patwa, Black English. Jamaican English is called “acrolec" (West Indian, or Caribbean English), creolized a low variety of language called “basilect” and the intermediate variety, referred to as the mesolect (Higher and Lower).
